Given my career was extremely demanding day to day. I felt I had not taken the opportunity to stand back from my day to day role and create a 3 year career plan. I also acknowledged that I am individual who needs to feel I am on a continuous career development path.

I now have a 3 year career plan that has assisted me moving into a new organisation and role. This career plan was also recently leveraged to be successful in gaining a promotion to the Head of Sales. I am extremely pleased that my targeted approach to career development.

I had noticed in the past ten years my career accelerating, coupled with a new family of young children. I recognised the need and importance to ensure I change my working habits to ensure I dedicated enough quality time to my new family, whilst not compromising my results and career achievements. I was feeling guilty that I may not be spending enough quality time with my family.

It is now approximately nine months, since I originally commenced the coaching, I have constantly achieved the school drop-offs and week night family diners. My sales team at Telstra also achieved the largest ever sales achievement against target for Q4, 2005. I have also transitioned into a new organisation and been able to set my work-life balance objectives upfront.

Since moving into people management positions I have continued to look for ways to improve my leadership style, whilst improving my team's outcomes. I was also concerned with how many Senior Managers I had seen be consumed by the internal politics and culture within large organisations and ultimately compromising their leadership standards. These managers would then appear to take a popular "knee jerk" approach to business challenges. I wanted to identify some key leadership qualities that I would like to build on, whilst looking at those leadership traits I need to avoid.

I Identified and developed some key leadership qualities that I would like to build on, whilst looking at those leadership traits I need to avoid; and built a plan on how I can improve my effectiveness in these areas of leadership.
